Impressive start marred by injuries for A Reserves
A RIPPING start against Millicent, in unplanned heat, made the A Res match an intense watch early in the game.

A RIPPING start against Millicent, in unplanned heat, made the A Res match an intense watch early in the game.
A chat before the game around taking our time and making good decisions with the ball was well-reflected on court throughout the game, especially in the first quarter where shooting duo, Shelby Nolte and Ivy Lane, were fed accurately by centre court rockets, Brydie and Amber Carlin.
A defensive change up, due to player unavailability, saw Scarlett Jarrad take the GD bib alongside Jess Condon in GK with Marlee Robbins in WD.
Some quick centre conversions, strong defensive pressure and the rebounding capabilities of Shelby Nolte, saw the Cats finish the quarter just two points shy of Millicent, 12 to 10.
The girls carried that same intensity into the second quarter, however an injury early, disrupted that rhythm.
Adele Murphy came on in the mid-court and despite our best efforts and some smooth passages of play, the second quarter ended, 30 to 18.
A shuffle across the court coming into the third saw Scarlett Jarrad take charge back in the mid court as Centre and Isabella Baker came across from the B Grade to help provide some height in the defensive circle - a position furthest from her usual.
The remainder of the game followed a similar trend, with the heat affecting everyone. It’s a big ask of a team to regain full composure after a teammate sustains an injury, so it’s a credit to the girls and especially our captain on the day, Scarlett Jarrad, for keeping the girls focussed and accountable.
The game ended 76 to 38. Although the game finished up in less-thanideal circumstances, it was great to see some of the things we’ve worked on at training put into practice and how they work against a top side.
